How to update Windows Operating System

Updating a Windows computer

It is really important to keep your Windows device up to date. Microsoft releases patches that prevent known holes or bugs in their Operating System and applications on (at least) a monthly basis.


To update your Windows device:
1. Using the Search bar, type winver and press return
2. Confirm the Software Version your laptop is running, if it is below the version numbers above please continue
      For visibility, examples of older version of the Operating System that are not supported are Version 1903 or Version 1909 (OS Build 18363.900) if you have an older version, please continue below.

3. Using the Search bar, type Windows Update
4. Install any updates that are required, you may need to reboot your laptop and repeat the process a number of times depending on how far your computer is out of date.
